SOFTWARE OVERVIEW - FTK IMAGER

Overview

Forensic ToolKit Imager(FTK) is an open-source software provided by ACCESSDATA which allows users to preview data and conduct imaging to help assess electronic devices. Accessdata(n.d.) themselves mentioned that the forensic images of the computer data made by FTK Imager are perfect and unaltered.

The images made by FTK imager allows investigators to create forensic images and has an inbuilt integrity checking function which could generate a hash report to prove that they are unaltered. This helps validate evidence in a court of law making it admissible.

• Previewing files and folders
• Mounting read-only view images
• Data recovery
• Generation of Hashes for files
